Red acne marks always seem to appear at the worth moment i.e. hours of the day before a date or an interview. It you wait these marks will go down in two or three days but often you will want to reduce the redness straightaway.
Whatever you do don’t pick or squeeze as this will irritate the skins and make the inflammation even worse.
A quick fix the night before is to apply a small amount of toothpaste to the spot or spots and leave it on it overnight and wash it off in the morning. This should reduce the red acne marks and swelling. Toothpaste also stops oil accumulating in the pores and assists faster healing.
Cutting a tomato in half and rubbing the cut side over the face gently and leaving it there for 15 minutes can also help as this will tighten up the pores and minimize redness.
If you don’t mind not using natural products, ointments with benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid can help get rid of redness but these type of product should only be used if prescribed or recommended by the doctor.
Acne is commonly caused by the gland under the skin producing excessive sebum to keep the skin smooth and healthy. Sebum is an oily kind of substance that is produced by the gland and too much of this sebum will cause clogging of the pores. Clogging of pores will lead to an ideal mold for bacteria to grow. Therefore, most of the skincare products are targeted to reduce sebum production.
One of the main reasons of excessive sebum production is hormone imbalance. It usually happens during puberty or adulthood where hormone plays a very crucial part in a person’s life. Males are being said to be more prone to hormone imbalance than female during that period. Pregnancy and menstrual period can also cause hormone imbalance and eventually an outbreak of acnes. Other sources of outbreak include stress, irritation of the skin, food allergy and certain medications such as steroids.
Now it comes down to how herbal products can help to reduce the outbreak of acne. There are several types of herbs that we can plant in our very own backyard. Aloe Vera is one of the herbal remedies which is commonly used and widely available. Aloe Vera contains astringent & antibacterial properties that can be applied straight onto our skin. We can use the sticky substance from the leaf when it is broken into half. Calendula can be used as facial steam for it’s healing purposes and it usually comes in cream form when you get it from the local pharmacies. Lavender is used to relieve inflammation and Golden Seal can be used to stop oozing with its antimicrobial properties.
Tea tree oil is also a powerful antiseptic which must be diluted before application. Surprisingly, walnut leaf can also be used as astringent when washing our face. It will contract the pores to ensure that there will be no buildup of acne. Witch hazel is often used as an antibacterial remedy. Burdock Root and Dandelion contain insulin which helps to remove bacteria of the skin. And last but not least, Milk Thistle, this herb can be considered as one of the most common products that is used to cleanse and strengthen our liver which lead to healthy skin as well.
Some of the herbal remedies can be consumed and not just being applied on the skin. For example, a mixture of dandelion and milk thistle will help to cleanse the liver and blood internally. It is also common for us to mix several of these herbs together to treat acne and one of the known prescriptions include Calendula, Lavender, Tea Tree Oil and Witch Hazel.
Most of these herbs can be easily found and we can plant them ourselves. It is safe and less harmful if compare to the drugs and other acne medications. Therefore, I always believe that herbal remedies as acne treatment is always the better way treatment.
As with most medicines, using Tetracycline means side effects can occur. Some side effects will require medical attention. others are more common and not serious.
If any signs of redness, irritation, pain or swelling not present before use of this medication happens, consult with your doctor as soon as possible.
More common tetracycline side effects that do not need a doctor’s attention (unless they become bothersome or continue throughout the course of medication) are dry or flaky skin, yellowing of the skin particularly around the hairline and a stinging or burning sensation.
Apart from side effects, in the areas being treated you should look out for things like anemia, dizziness, allergic reactions, loss of appetite, nausea, ringing in ears and blurry vision.
Rare tetracycline side effects include muscle weakness, liver poisoning, sore throat and inflammation.
